Exercise as a Recovery Tool

Exercise is one of the most effective, least talked-about tools in recovery. Physical activity releases the same categories of brain chemicals — endorphins, dopamine — that substances used to provide, but through a process your body can sustain and regulate naturally.

You don't need an intense routine to see the benefits. A 20-minute walk lowers stress hormones and can measurably reduce craving intensity. Regular movement also improves sleep, which in turn makes everything else about recovery a little easier.

Start small and build gradually. The goal isn't a fitness transformation — it's giving your body and brain one more reliable way to feel better.
