Understanding Your First 30 Days

The first 30 days of sobriety are rarely easy, and that's normal. Your body is adjusting, your sleep may be unpredictable, and emotions you numbed for years can surface all at once.

Expect good days and hard ones, sometimes within the same afternoon. Structure helps: a simple daily routine gives you something to hold onto when willpower alone isn't enough. Small, concrete goals — drinking water, getting outside, calling one supportive person — matter more than grand plans right now.

Most importantly, one bad hour does not undo the last 29 days. Progress in early recovery is rarely a straight line, and that's not a sign you're failing.
